Brown Spot Treatment

What is the Xeo and what does it do?
The Xeo laser is an innovative way to quickly, safely and comfortably remove sunspots, melasma and freckles from skin without requiring any topical anesthetic. The pigment will begin to flake off after one or two treatments leaving younger, healthier looking skin underneath.

What areas of the body can be treated?

Virtually any part of the body with sun damage, age spots or freckles can be safely treated. The face, chest, neck, shoulders, arms and hands are the most common places treated as they have the most sun exposure.

What does the treatment do?
The brown pigment spots on the skin selectively absorb the visible light. The heating of these pigmented cells causes the cells to flake off leaving the therapeutic effect of clear skin.

What do the treatments feel like?

When the laser is activated you may feel a very transient sensation of pinching or heat, this will last less than a second. Because the treatments are not painful no topical anesthetic gel is required.

How long and how many treatments are required?
The actual treatment only takes a few minutes depending on the area and number of lesions that are being treated. Typically 1 to 3 treatments are sufficient to see dramatic results. Additional treatments may be required for very large or very dark areas. Because of the individual nature of skin pigmentation some adjustments of settings may
be required for the desired effect and this cannot be predicted.

Are there any side effects after the treatment?
Immediately following the treatment you may notice a slight reddening of the skin and potentially an initial DARKENING of the lesions being treated. This will eventually fade and flake off over 1-2 weeks.

Can all of my spots be treated this way?
Many types of spots can be treated with the Xeo laser; however, a consultation with one of our physicians is recommended for advisement. Some lesions may require removal by excision, for that you would be referred to your primary care physician.

When will I see results?
Most patients find the majority of their treated spots significantly improved within 2 to 3 weeks. However, your final result may not be apparent for a month or more after your last treatment.
